Is It Hard to Learn How to Hypnotize People?

“Is it hard to learn how to hypnotize people?”  Well, I think this is probably one of the most commonly asked questions among those people who are interested in learning hypnosis and certainly it was the question I’ve had when I got interested in learning conversational hypnosis. If you’re looking to learn how to hypnotize someone as fast as possible, this video is a great way to get started.

First of all, I’m not a master hypnotist or hypnotherapist who has own practice. I just learn and use the hypnotic techniques occasionally for fun (I mean not in a bad way of course)  and also to make my life little more powerful so to speak… So please don’t take any of my comments as a professional advice or anything like that. I’m just sharing what i know and what I do, that’s all.

Clinical Hypnosis

Okay back to the question…  I think the answer depends on what kind of hypnosis you want to learn.  Let’s say you want to be a hypnotherapist (clinical hypnotist).

From what I studied by reading a lot of materials and through conversations I’ve had with some hypnotists I’ve met in the past, clinical hypnosis is probably “the hardest” one to learn if you want to run your own practice.  What I mean by “the hardest” is it takes time to master and cannot learn online because you’ve got to study through “hands-on” learning process like any other medical courses. It would also cost quite a lot of money and you need to study psychotherapy and probably some other medical classes. Basically this is almost same as being a medical doctor so I think, it’s not an easy one to master.

Self Hypnosis

Since my blog is about learn how to hypnotize someone, self-hypnosis may not be appropriate to mention here but I think it is still an interesting subject so i will talk about it briefly.

Learning self-hypnosis is not hard at all. Because many self-hypnosis techniques are meant to be very natural to you as they use the normal rhythms and functions of the human mind.  When you were born, you did not know how to walk at all…  What about now? Are you actually conscious about how you walk (the physical action)? What about riding a bicycle? When you started to learn how to walk or ride a bike, you had to be so conscious about your body movement. But now you can execute those actions so naturally without having any thoughts in mind. This shows the incredible ability of human mind to receive training and carry out action naturally through a subconscious mind.

As long as you understand this, you can learn and try several self-hypnosis techniques to yourself depending on your objectives (stop smoking, weight loss etc.) and see what techniques will work for you the best. If you are interested in changing your habits or any other self-improvement, do some research and you will find quite a few great materials to learn from.

Conversational Hypnosis / NLP

This is the type of hypnosis I’ve been learning and practicing. I am personally enjoying this jurney and it makes me more powerful as i get more confidence. Now, you may ask “Is it hard to learn?”  I would say it is not easy as you actually need to practice the techniques you learn quite a bit but it’s certainly not as hard as clinical hypnosis and quite frankly, it’s great fun!

There are many ways to learn conversational hypnosis but I’ve mainly been learning from books, a home-study course and through some networking in the local hypnosis industry (you can find those network groups online).  In the nut-shell, this is what I’ve been doing:

  • Keep learning from an ongoing conversational hypnosis home-study course almost everyday (I try to spend at least an hour a day).
  • Go out there and start testing what i learned with people I meet (Practice).
  • If it did not work, investigate why by going back to my study course and books or by asking other hypnotists.
  • Go out there and try again and again until I see the results.
  • Once I get the hang of it, move onto the next technique.

Like anything, there is always a certain process you need to go through in order to see results.  ..and how long it takes to master depends on the pace of your learning and how often put it in practice. Obviously, more often you try to use the techniques, faster you will learn.  And more techniques you master, more powerful your life will be.

Now I can create a situation in a conversation with someone where I can make the person agree with what I suggest and I use this tactic with my prospective customers often (I’m in sales). My success rate is about 70% right now and let me tell you, it really makes me feel powerful (I’d love you to experience the feeling too)!!

But don’t think that you can hypnotize anyone out there. I used to think so but it does not work that way. Conversational hypnosis (hypnosis in general) tend to work better with people who trust you. So it works better if they know you already (and they kinda like you) but you can still persuade people at your first meeting as long as you can create a relax and comfortable atmosphere (rapport).  This means you may need to work on your interpersonal skills as well if you think you are not good at it.

Ready To Learn?

There are many books and home-study courses available on conversational hypnosis (NLP / covert hypnosis) so if you are ready to learn, make sure to do some research and find one you would feel right to go with.  I would also suggest you to join a local network club for hypnosis/NLP (check out Meetup.com in your area) if you can. Here’s a hypnosis program that will start you on the right foot.

So “Is It Hard to Learn How to Hypnotize People?“  Well, I personally don’t find it hard because hypnosis is so fascinating and I enjoy learning it. …You? I guess you need to try it first then you will know the answer naturally.

That’s it for now… Have a great day!
